Cornerstone NewActon’s photography competition for 2016

Wishing to contribute to the 2016 Art, Not Apart festival held on Saturday, March 19th, Cornerstone invited all Canberrans to enter a photography competition. Specifically centred around the theme of “urban renewal”, the criteria were simple, as follows:
– a photograph that the photographer felt represents the spirit of “the old being made new”;
– a recent photo taken anywhere in the ACT;
– recognisable as iconically Canberra;

Cornerstone shortlisted the top 8 entries for display in an outdoor exhibition as part of the Art, Not Apart festival. A select panel of judges nominated one overall winner and one runner-up. In addition, attendees of the festival were invited to vote for a “People’s Choice” entry.

The results were as follows:

1st place – $300 to Ian Houghton with “Yesterday’s Canberra Times”

Runner-up – $150 to Rachel Corsini with “Westside Upside Downside”

People’s Choice – $200 also to Ian Houghton with “Yesterday’s Canberra Times”
